Role Play
The joy of role-play is that kids can ‘become’ anyone they like for a short time……the possibilities are never ending. When activities are engaging and interesting, learning takes place and is thorough. It stimulates imaginations and helps develop their social skills.
The challenge with role play spaces is to create a fun space which includes purposeful and engaging writing, math and mark making. All in addition to the communicative and co-operative play opportunities.
It is an exciting challenge to find opportunities to learn the core skills whilst not losing out on the value of ‘play’.
Once constructed, the pirate role play set up is a wealth of more ‘formal’ learning opportunities.
